Style Byte: Getting Hands On

Type in "unboxing" on any popular video site and I guarantee hundreds if not thousands of videos will come up.  Unboxing is the process of taking videos (sometimes photos) while unpacking a retail box. Usually it's a gadgets but I've seen other items like shoes and house hold items.

Hands-on video demos and unboxing pieces have become a global rage on the internet. With cost effective, easy to transport gadgets that capture video, what was once reserved for the media elite has been transformed into a consumer and blogger possibility.

For me, as a consumer, watching content like this have brought me true value. It's a unique perspective on a product without me literally heading to a store and ripping the box open on the shelf (I admit I've done that on occasion). Instead of turning off my Saturday morning cartoons, I can stay in my PJs and check the web for video demos prior to purchasing a gadget I'm thinking about. And thanks to the talented bloggers out there who have earned their access to the same VIP preview events as mainstream press, I can now check out new items on video before they hit the general market.

With the recent release of some of our hottest new gadgets like the new VAIO PC's and PS3 systems there's already been a release of demo and unboxing videos. Now of course some of these are from other countries so although the model specs or colors aren't exact to the ones offered on SonyStyle.com or at our US stores, it still provides an alternate window shopping experience beyond a web page or store shelf. Here's a couple to highlight in today's style byte.

 Titled "the Unboxing Sony Ericsson Aino", and posted by secommunity, it's a detailed unboxing of the new Sony Ericsson Aino.


If you've been curious to see how the new VAIO L All-in-one desktop works, Chris from the Sony Insider taped his demo directly from the Sony Style Store in Atlanta, Georgia.


This one is great from Drew120392 on Youtube as it shows the PSPgo playing with a DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller for the PS3.

Hi Guest, There are a couple of sales happening right now that extend through Black Friday. One in particular could very well sell out before Black Friday (in my opinion) which is a sale on XBR9 TV & Home Theater Bundles. It's about $1450 in savings. Here is what I was able to get: There's going to be savings up to $1450 on select TV/ Home Theater Bundles- (AWESOME) We're going to offer a free PS3 or Blu-ray Disc Player with select TV purchases, There's going to be savings up to $480 on select VAIO bundles, Savings up to $200 on camcorders and up to $40 on cameras And I heard there will be some special sales for in-store only shoppers. Now I now some restrictions will apply for these sales so be sure to come on back for the full deets when the sale starts. If I get more info, I'll be sure to post.
